WHEATON Receives Fit-Friendly Company Award from American Heart Association
The American Heart Association recently recognized Wheaton Industries as a Start! Fit-Friendly Company.

The award is given to employers who champion the health of their Associates and work to create a culture of physical
activity and health in the workplace. Mike Burrows, Wheaton EHS manager indicated that at Wheaton the comprehensive
program includes a variety of activities such as company walks, Nova Care “Work Strategies” stretching programs, sporting activities, as well as healthy eating and education programs. The company periodically provides a lunch and learn program where healthy strategies are presented, and the menu consists mainly of salads, fruits, and vegetables. Snacks in the vending machines have also been switched to more healthy choices. An annual
Health Fair coupled with interactive activities and fundraisers round out the program. Burrows indicated that the program
which has been in place for some time, benefits the company as well as the Associates, and the results are measurable.
